Snowboarding in Denver, Colorado

I found this picture on a website of snowboarding resorts in Denver, Colorado. I feel like this would be an amazing place to visit and snowboard at. I hope to go on a trip there within the next two years with some of my best friends.

Finals Week

Two of the most awful words in the human dictionary: Finals Week.

This week consists of nervous breakdowns, all-nighters, and many energy drinks.  If there is one thing I learned from last year it is to never, EVER procrastinate.  But yet here I sit with a hundred other things to do today.  I think part of the excitement of finals week is getting something done at the last minute.  But what is the point?  All the anxiety you have builds up and gets under your skin. It’s the thrill of not knowing whether or not you’re going to make it in on time.

Time Changes Everything

“Time changes everything… that’s what people say. But it’s not true. Doing something changes things; not doing things leaves them exactly the way they are.”

This is one of my favorite quotes.  In my eyes it means no matter what happens, you have an affect on the outcome.  If you do something to change things, they will change.  If you do nothing, they will remain the same.  Some people are afraid of change.  It scares them to face something that seems unfamiliar to them. In life though, sometimes you have to take a leap of faith, and do something you have never done before.  Besides, what is the point of life if you never take chances?

“Love: a single word, a waspy thing, a word no bigger or longer than an edge. That’s what it is: an edge; a razor. It draws up through the center of your life, cutting everything in two. Before and after. The rest of the world falls away on either side.”
— Lauren Oliver, the author of Delirium

Motivation

I found this picture on activeinspiration.tumblr

In high school I was always in track, soccer, or ski club, so I was always physically fit.  But, then I went to college and fell out of shape.  I reblogged this because I used to always run, and haven’t done that in months.  I do miss being in shape and would love to get back into shape.  This picture motivates me to strive for what I want because i know it is possible

OPreach

Today’s Responsorial Psalm is from Psalm 24.

The Lord’s are the earth and its fullnes;
the world and those who dwell in it.
For God founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.

That pretty much covers everything!

JOHN 14:8

If God is all you have, you have all you need.

First Entry

I’m trying to get in the swing of things on word press.   This is actually my first blog and I’m trying to figure out how to properly use it.   We only have two and a half weeks left of classes until Christmas Break and I am beyond excited.  I’m so ready to go home for a month straight and do nothing but eat, sleep, and hang out with my friends and family.

The Blog of Disquiet

I’ve been reading sad books. Books about sad people. While I was reading Suzanne Scanlon’s Promising Young Women (which I reviewed here), I was rereading Two Girls, Fat and Thin by Mary Gaitskill, and at this point in my life I must have reread it five or six times. It’s always a bad idea for me to read this book—I’m always in a funk for a week after, sometimes longer, or perhaps but now it’s just lodged itself somewhere inside me and each time I reread it it’s like lighting a match. Two Girls is about two girls, but it’s also about gender war(s), heterosexuality as violence. Chris Kraus writes about wanting to solve heterosexuality before turning 40 in I Love Dick but I feel like every conversation with single straight women friends over beer is an attempt to solve heterosexuality, and after a few drinks the solution is…
